Why do you ride?

My BF convinced me to get a bike so I could ride with him and his daughters. Since I’d only be using it every now and then, I went to Walmart and bought a bike for about $100. But then, I found myself riding it around Downtown Manchester, which is where I live.

What kind of bicycle do you ride?

A Schwinn Admiral named “Sam the Eagle”. It’s a very patriotic bicycle.

What do you carry with you when you ride and how do you carry it?

I have two baskets - one on the front and a sturdier metal one on the side. It’s amazinging how many groceries I can transport from Market Basket; usually around $35 worth.

Where do you ride most often?

To Market Basket, the Liquor Store and Gold’s Gym. I mainly use my bike to run errands. I can walk all these places too but it’s a lot more fun to ride my bike home than carry a heavy bag.

Do you ride year round?

God no.

What’s your favorite riding experience in Manchester?

I get such joy out of doing Figure 8’s around the garbage cans in front of the Verizon. I’m sure I look like a complete whack-a-doo but I don’t care.

What’s been your worst riding experience in Manchester?

I am terrified of being on the road, so I try to avoid it. One of the few times I had to go on the road ’cause pedestrians were on the sidewalk, some teenagers peeled around me and screamed obscenities. I know the sidewalks are illegal so I walk my bike if anyone else is on it.
