Why do you ride?
For fun, first and foremost. I definitely like being able to park closer to my destinations, as well as the health and environmental benefits of bicycling, but those are secondary to fun for me.

A 2008 Raleigh Detour 4.0
What do you carry with you when you ride and how do you carry it?
Depends. If I’m going to work I will usually carry my lunch, a notebook, assorted paperwork, a book and occasionally a laptop, all in a pannier. If my son’s with me, I will carry water and snacks for him in a messenger bag.

Downtown to work.
Do you ride year round?
No, I am literally a fair-weather rider. I salute those who ride in throughout the winter, but for me bicycling becomes decidedly less fun when temps dip below 40 or so.

Any time I get to go for a ride with my son. I also like riding in my seersucker suit complete with pink bow tie and white bucks - the stares I get are priceless.

No one experience stands out, though if I had a nickel for every time a motorist yelled at me to get on the sidewalk I’d be at least a couple of bucks richer.
